Based on the five-six journal (e.g., Mauer & King, 2007; Sorenson et al., 2003; Bridges & Crutchfield, 1988; Britt, 2000; Woolredge, 2009) articles that covered racial sentencing disparaties, please discuss the following questions. What are the racial sentencing disparities when it comes to incarceration, and are there any regional variations in these disparaties? More importantly, in your estimation which of the possible explanations offered by the readings offers the most compelling explanation for these disparities in general, and for the regional variation in these disparities in particular? In your opinion, what are some solutions (at any level) for reducing these disparaties, at the regional, and/or national level?
