Identify a theme or a set of connected themes (ex. cyclical time, fashion & gender, fashion & anxiety, fashion & rebellion/conformity) and design a garment that expresses those concepts.

The Main Task: For this project, you need to create an outfit for the 2020 Met Gala, which was supposed to be themed around Virginia Woolf. Your job is to identify a theme or a set of connected themes (ex. cyclical time, fashion & gender, fashion & anxiety, fashion & rebellion/conformity) and design a garment that expresses those concepts. Keep in mind that some Met Gala outfits end up having multiple layers or moving components. I encourage you to make your garment dynamic, but whatever you design must be physically possible. You also need to pick a celebrity and direct your proposal towards them. Imagine that you are trying to convince them to pick you as their designer for the event (what themes would they gravitate toward, and what kind of outfit would they want to wear?). I chose to use Billie Eilish as my celebrity and chose Time as my theme surrounding Virginia Woolf. I’ve taken care of the drawing part where I have to design a garment. I’m attaching the Guidelines/Rubric given, the slides that instruct us on how to do in text citations, the course reading packet that includes all the readers that need to be cited, and the doc that shows what I’ve written so far (the intro). The tone of the intro should be consistent with the rest of the essay. The essay should complete all the requirements of the rubric and the required # and type of citations
