Assignment Question

History through historical objects: This essay is a report/reflection on a virtual visit to museums (see the list of museums below). Visit/browse the online collection/exhibition of one or more museums and make an inventory of 6 historical objects from Asia (China, Korea, Japan, India, and West Asia: Persia/Arabia) and preferably of the pre-1900 periodfrom their collections. The following are the required components of your essay.

A brief description of each object, the country/region of origin, year/century in which the object was made, and the museum that holds it. You must copy and paste the museum link for each object. You may copy and paste the image of the object as well for a visual reference. For each object, briefly explain the historical significance and discuss what the object tells us about the culture, art, craft, commodity production, religion, and trade of the country at the time when the object was produced (in 3-4 sentences).

Your essay should be in about 3 (three) double-spaced pages (if you add images, disregard the page limit). When you click the museum link, you will have either a search option or scroll down option. You may search for China, Japan, Korea, India, Persia, and Arabia or textile, ceramic, or porcelain, or Asian art. You may then browse the collection and select the objects that you want to discuss in your essay. List of museums: Ashmolean Museum, Oxford:
