1) REFLECT on the concept of a ‘SIGNATURE’ – defined as a personal and distinctive way of writing ones name, a distinctive texture, pattern, product, and characteristic by which someone or something can be identified. Understand the possibility that each choice you make in the design process; line, shape, detail, color, and texture combined with balance, rhythm, proportion defines your creative signature. 2) INQUIRE about the nature of various textiles and fabrications and then UPLOAD an image of what you determine to be your ‘SIGNATURE’ fabric. (choose 2 fabrics) POST the following information with an image of your ‘SIGNATURE’ fabric. Define the name and content of the fabric. (ex: charmeuse / 100% silk)* Describe the characteristics of that fabric; hand, quality, weight, etc. (ex: soft, supple, w/ a fluid drape, 400 threads per square inch, medium weight/approx. 5.3)* Tell us briefly why it is your signature fabric. (ex: I especially love the adaptability of this fabric when cut on the bias. It folds into the body with out collapsing and clinging. It has a sheen not a shine so it is visually smooth, elegant, and unpretentious.)*
