Assignment Question

Back to Week at a Glance INTERNSHIP 1 Welcome to the Week 3 Assignment area! Internship 1 students, please complete the Internship 1 Assignment. INTERNSHIP 1 ASSIGNMENT: CULTURALLY AND CONTEXTUALLY APPROPRIATE, EMPIRICALLY-BASED SUPERVISION As you learned and practiced in your Supervision in CES course, counselor educators and supervisors are called to respond to myriad supervisory challenges. In doing so, counselor educators and supervisors must adhere to empirically supported methods and attend to details of cultural and contextual relevance appropriately. With these thoughts in mind, consider the following: Max has recently taken a counseling intern position under your direction as a supervisor. One of Max’s first clients, an 18-year-old male, has recently disclosed that he believes he might be gay. Max has approached you with questions about his plans for treating this client. He discloses that his deeply held religious beliefs do not support the “homosexual lifestyle.” He asks for your direction, as he has a general idea of how he is supposed to respond, based on his multicultural counseling course, but experiences significant, initial conflict about it.
