5-page paper in which you select a “minor” character from Alessandro Manzoni’s The Betrothed (basically any character except Renzo or Lucia), and analyze the function, importance, and role of such character within the novel, especially in respect to the 2 main characters, the events (both in the plot and the historical events), the structure of the novel, and the culture of the time it depicts.
Look for growth (or lack of it), depth, and strategic placement by the author. If the character’s name and/or physical description is also meaningful, please point that out.
